WALK AND TALK COACHING FAQs
What is walk and talk coaching?
It's a coaching session that takes place outside, and incorporates walking while talking about issues and problem solving. This can be done through online video anywhere in the world, where each of us agree to go to a nearby park or area that we can safely walk and have our session at the same time. Alternatively, if you are local to Winston-Salem, NC, we will meet at a designated park in the northwest part of the metro area.
What are the benefits of walk and talk coaching?
-Can help reduce stress and anxiety symptoms through a combination of talking and movement
-Living in a busy world, this can help you get your steps in for the day, while simultaneously supporting your mental health and goals
-Helps support the mind-body-spirit connection
-Walking and talking instead of sitting and talking could help stimulate creativity and access solutions that you may not have thought of by stimulating your senses and different parts of your brain
-Better connection with yourself and the outside world/nature
-Breaks up the monotony of sitting at a desk all day
-Some clients have reported feeling even more comfortable diving into issues while walking and looking straight ahead, versus staring into someone's face or a camera
-Walking stimulates both sides of your body with that motion, and could be helpful with processing thoughts and emotions, and literally moving them through your body
What are the cons of walk and talk coaching?
-Commute time to a walking area; although depending upon where you live, this could be just around the corner!
-Inclement weather
-Confidentiality of sessions. Since you will most likely be out and about in a public place, you have less control over who will pass by you while you are walking and they could overhear what you are saying.
-Mobility issues - If walking is not possible or too difficult, it adds a challenge, but we can brainstorm about possible accommodations.
What are appropriate goals to work with?
We can tailor a session to your needs. Almost anything that we do in an online session can be incorporated into a walk and talk session. However, before we get started, we will talk through what you're looking for to make sure it's the right fit for you.
Does walk and talk coaching cost extra?
Nope! In fact I feel so strongly about the benefits of it, I have created a package deal which would give you a discount on sessions if you commit to working on a specific goal or goals. To find out more about this special, click here.
