Imbolc, also known as Candlemas, Groundhog Dog, or St. Brigit’s Day, occurs at the beginning of February, and marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. We are still in the midst of the dark of winter, but start to see the promise of spring and new beginnings. In the Northern Hemisphere, the days start to get noticeably longer, as the sun sets a little bit later day by day. How have you been feeling this February? I’ve felt like I’ve been a combination of feeling worn out and tired and wanting to hide in a cocoon, but also finding myself excited to prepare for some big (positive) changes in my life. I’ve realized that in order to even plant the seeds, there is some preparation and planning that needs to happen.
For me, I’ve had to pay closer attention to my self-care, and participate in activities that nourish my body and my Spirit. The right combination for me has been bodywork, acupuncture, dietary changes, getting more sleep, Yin Yoga, a balance of alone time with connection with others, walks outside, and personal coaching to help clear out the cobwebs of what is no longer useful for me so that I can write a new story, and start fresh. We all have barriers that can block us from reaching our full potential, and a past that sometimes can impact our present; but the first step of change is awareness. If you feel called to gain a different perspective on an issue, or would like some inspiration on where to focus your energy, why not schedule a reading or sign up for a coaching session? I offer the convenience of meeting through online video so you can even stay in the comfort of your own home.
